Exodus - 21

  • 1. ['Now these are the ordinances which thou shalt set before them.']
  • ואלה המשפטימ אשר תשימ לפניהמ

  • 2. ['If thou buy a Hebrew servant', ' six years he shall serve; and in the seventh he shall go out free for nothing.']
  • כי תקנה עבד עברי שש שנימ יעבד ובשבעת יצא לחפשי חנמ
  • KY TQNH OBD OBRY $$ $NYM YOBD WB$BOT YCA LXP$Y XNM

  • 3. ['If he come in by himself', ' he shall go out by himself; if he be married', ' then his wife shall go out with him.']
  • אמ בגפו יבא בגפו יצא אמ בעל אשה הוא ויצאה אשתו עמו
  • AM BGPW YBA BGPW YCA AM BOL A$H HWA WYCAH A$TW OMW

  • 4. ['If his master give him a wife', ' and she bear him sons or daughters; the wife and her children shall be her master’s', ' and he shall go out by himself.']
  • אמ אדניו יתנ לו אשה וילדה לו בנימ או בנות האשה וילדיה תהיה לאדניה והוא יצא בגפו

  • 5. ['But if the servant shall plainly say: I love my master', ' my wife', ' and my children; I will not go out free;']
  • ואמ אמר יאמר העבד אהבתי את אדני את אשתי ואת בני לא אצא חפשי
  • WAM AMR YAMR HOBD AHBTY AT ADNY AT A$TY WAT BNY LA ACA XP$Y

  • 6. ['then his master shall bring him unto God', ' and shall bring him to the door', ' or unto the door-post; and his master shall bore his ear through with an awl; and he shall serve him for ever.']
  • והגישו אדניו אל האלהימ והגישו אל הדלת או אל המזוזה ורצע אדניו את אזנו במרצע ועבדו לעלמ

  • 7. ['And if a man sell his daughter to be a maid-servant', ' she shall not go out as the men-servants do.']
  • וכי ימכר איש את בתו לאמה לא תצא כצאת העבדימ
  • WKY YMKR AY$ AT BTW LAMH LA TCA KCAT HOBDYM

  • 8. ['If she please not her master', ' who hath espoused her to himself', ' then shall he let her be redeemed; to sell her unto a foreign people he shall have no power', ' seeing he hath dealt deceitfully with her.']
  • אמ רעה בעיני אדניה אשר לא לו יעדה והפדה לעמ נכרי לא ימשל למכרה בבגדו בה

  • 9. ['And if he espouse her unto his son', ' he shall deal with her after the manner of daughters.']
  • ואמ לבנו ייעדנה כמשפט הבנות יעשה לה
  • WAM LBNW YYODNH KM$P+ HBNWT YO$H LH

  • 10. ['If he take him another wife', ' her food', ' her raiment', ' and her conjugal rights', ' shall he not diminish.']
  • אמ אחרת יקח לו שארה כסותה וענתה לא יגרע
  • AM AXRT YQX LW $ARH KSWTH WONTH LA YGRO

  • 11. ['And if he do not these three unto her', ' then shall she go out for nothing', ' without money.']
  • ואמ שלש אלה לא יעשה לה ויצאה חנמ אינ כספ
  • WAM $L$ ALH LA YO$H LH WYCAH XNM AYN KSP

  • 12. ['He that smiteth a man', ' so that he dieth', ' shall surely be put to death.']
  • מכה איש ומת מות יומת
  • MKH AY$ WMT MWT YWMT

  • 13. ['And if a man lie not in wait', ' but God cause it to come to hand; then I will appoint thee a place whither he may flee.']
  • ואשר לא צדה והאלהימ אנה לידו ושמתי לכ מקומ אשר ינוס שמה
  • WA$R LA CDH WHALHYM ANH LYDW W$MTY LK MQWM A$R YNWS $MH

  • 14. ['And if a man come presumptuously upon his neighbour', ' to slay him with guile; thou shalt take him from Mine altar', ' that he may die.']
  • וכי יזד איש על רעהו להרגו בערמה מעמ מזבחי תקחנו למות
  • WKY YZD AY$ OL ROHW LHRGW BORMH MOM MZBXY TQXNW LMWT

  • 15. ['And he that smiteth his father', ' or his mother', ' shall be surely put to death. .']
  • ומכה אביו ואמו מות יומת
  • WMKH ABYW WAMW MWT YWMT

  • 16. ['And he that stealeth a man', ' and selleth him', ' or if he be found in his hand', ' he shall surely be put to death.']
  • וגנב איש ומכרו ונמצא בידו מות יומת
  • WGNB AY$ WMKRW WNMCA BYDW MWT YWMT

  • 17. ['And he that curseth his father or his mother', ' shall surely be put to death.']
  • ומקלל אביו ואמו מות יומת
  • WMQLL ABYW WAMW MWT YWMT

  • 18. ['And if men contend', ' and one smite the other with a stone', ' or with his fist', ' and he die not', ' but keep his bed;']
  • וכי יריבנ אנשימ והכה איש את רעהו באבנ או באגרפ ולא ימות ונפל למשכב
  • WKY YRYBN AN$YM WHKH AY$ AT ROHW BABN AW BAGRP WLA YMWT WNPL LM$KB

  • 19. ['if he rise again', ' and walk abroad upon his staff', ' then shall he that smote him be quit; only he shall pay for the loss of his time', ' and shall cause him to be thoroughly healed.']
  • אמ יקומ והתהלכ בחוצ על משענתו ונקה המכה רק שבתו יתנ ורפא ירפא

  • 20. ['And if a man smite his bondman', ' or his bondwoman', ' with a rod', ' and he die under his hand', ' he shall surely be punished.']
  • וכי יכה איש את עבדו או את אמתו בשבט ומת תחת ידו נקמ ינקמ
  • WKY YKH AY$ AT OBDW AW AT AMTW B$B+ WMT TXT YDW NQM YNQM

  • 21. ['Notwithstanding if he continue a day or two', ' he shall not be punished; for he is his money.']
  • אכ אמ יומ או יומימ יעמד לא יקמ כי כספו הוא
  • AK AM YWM AW YWMYM YOMD LA YQM KY KSPW HWA

  • 22. ['And if men strive together', ' and hurt a woman with child', ' so that her fruit depart', ' and yet no harm follow', ' he shall be surely fined', ' according as the woman’s husband shall lay upon him; and he shall pay as the judges determine.']
  • וכי ינצו אנשימ ונגפו אשה הרה ויצאו ילדיה ולא יהיה אסונ ענוש יענש כאשר ישית עליו בעל האשה ונתנ בפללימ

  • 23. ['But if any harm follow', ' then thou shalt give life for life', '']
  • ואמ אסונ יהיה ונתתה נפש תחת נפש
  • WAM ASWN YHYH WNTTH NP$ TXT NP$

  • 24. ['eye for eye', ' tooth for tooth', ' hand for hand', ' foot for foot', '']
  • עינ תחת עינ שנ תחת שנ יד תחת יד רגל תחת רגל
  • OYN TXT OYN $N TXT $N YD TXT YD RGL TXT RGL

  • 25. ['burning for burning', ' wound for wound', ' stripe for stripe.']
  • כויה תחת כויה פצע תחת פצע חבורה תחת חבורה
  • KWYH TXT KWYH PCO TXT PCO XBWRH TXT XBWRH

  • 26. ['And if a man smite the eye of his bondman', ' or the eye of his bondwoman', ' and destroy it', ' he shall let him go free for his eye’s sake.']
  • וכי יכה איש את עינ עבדו או את עינ אמתו ושחתה לחפשי ישלחנו תחת עינו
  • WKY YKH AY$ AT OYN OBDW AW AT OYN AMTW W$XTH LXP$Y Y$LXNW TXT OYNW

  • 27. ['And if he smite out his bondman’s tooth', ' or his bondwoman’s tooth', ' he shall let him go free for his tooth’s sake.']
  • ואמ שנ עבדו או שנ אמתו יפיל לחפשי ישלחנו תחת שנו
  • WAM $N OBDW AW $N AMTW YPYL LXP$Y Y$LXNW TXT $NW

  • 28. ['And if an ox gore a man or a woman', ' that they die', ' the ox shall be surely stoned', ' and its flesh shall not be eaten; but the owner of the ox shall be quit.']
  • וכי יגח שור את איש או את אשה ומת סקול יסקל השור ולא יאכל את בשרו ובעל השור נקי
  • WKY YGX $WR AT AY$ AW AT A$H WMT SQWL YSQL H$WR WLA YAKL AT B$RW WBOL H$WR NQY

  • 29. ['But if the ox was wont to gore in time past', ' and warning hath been given to its owner', ' and he hath not kept it in', ' but it hath killed a man or a woman; the ox shall be stoned', ' and its owner also shall be put to death.']
  • ואמ שור נגח הוא מתמל שלשמ והועד בבעליו ולא ישמרנו והמית איש או אשה השור יסקל וגמ בעליו יומת

  • 30. ['If there be laid on him a ransom', ' then he shall give for the redemption of his life whatsoever is laid upon him.']
  • אמ כפר יושת עליו ונתנ פדינ נפשו ככל אשר יושת עליו
  • AM KPR YW$T OLYW WNTN PDYN NP$W KKL A$R YW$T OLYW

  • 31. ['Whether it have gored a son', ' or have gored a daughter', ' according to this judgment shall it be done unto him.']
  • או בנ יגח או בת יגח כמשפט הזה יעשה לו
  • AW BN YGX AW BT YGX KM$P+ HZH YO$H LW

  • 32. ['If the ox gore a bondman or a bondwoman', ' he shall give unto their master thirty shekels of silver', ' and the ox shall be stoned.']
  • אמ עבד יגח השור או אמה כספ שלשימ שקלימ יתנ לאדניו והשור יסקל
  • AM OBD YGX H$WR AW AMH KSP $L$YM $QLYM YTN LADNYW WH$WR YSQL

  • 33. ['And if a man shall open a pit', ' or if a man shall dig a pit and not cover it', ' and an ox or an ass fall therein', '']
  • וכי יפתח איש בור או כי יכרה איש בר ולא יכסנו ונפל שמה שור או חמור
  • WKY YPTX AY$ BWR AW KY YKRH AY$ BR WLA YKSNW WNPL $MH $WR AW XMWR

  • 34. ['the owner of the pit shall make it good; he shall give money unto the owner of them', ' and the dead beast shall be his.']
  • בעל הבור ישלמ כספ ישיב לבעליו והמת יהיה לו
  • BOL HBWR Y$LM KSP Y$YB LBOLYW WHMT YHYH LW

  • 35. ['And if one man’s ox hurt another’s', ' so that it dieth; then they shall sell the live ox', ' and divide the price of it; and the dead also they shall divide.']
  • וכי יגפ שור איש את שור רעהו ומת ומכרו את השור החי וחצו את כספו וגמ את המת יחצונ

  • 36. ['Or if it be known that the ox was wont to gore in time past', ' and its owner hath not kept it in; he shall surely pay ox for ox', ' and the dead beast shall be his own.']
  • או נודע כי שור נגח הוא מתמול שלשמ ולא ישמרנו בעליו שלמ ישלמ שור תחת השור והמת יהיה לו

  • 37. ['If a man steal an ox', ' or a sheep', ' and kill it', ' or sell it', ' he shall pay five oxen for an ox', ' and four sheep for a sheep.']
  • כי יגנב איש שור או שה וטבחו או מכרו חמשה בקר ישלמ תחת השור וארבע צאנ תחת השה
